Nez Perce County Adult Jail
The Nez Perce County Adult Detention Center is operated by the Nez Perce County Sheriff's Office. Sheriff Bryce Scrimsher's office uses the Wall Street location for administration, dispatch, law enforcement services, and adult detention. The facility is the primary adult county jail for people housed for criminal offenses in Nez Perce County. It is not the Region II Juvenile Detention Center, and it is not an Idaho Department of Correction prison.
The county does not publish a formal security-level label for the adult facility in the research materials, so it should be described by its function: adult county detention. Current custody is displayed through the sheriff's public in-custody PDF, but that PDF is narrow. It excludes juveniles and gives only the name number and name fields, with no public profile page, mugshot, charge, bond, booking date, or housing unit.
The official Adult Detention Center page shows jail contact information, entry-search rules, mail directions, visitation vendor details, and PREA reporting information.
Those official facility rules control family contact, non-legal mail, video visitation, and reporting channels for the adult jail.
Nez Perce County Jail Capacity
The Idaho Sheriffs' Association directory lists the Nez Perce County Adult Detention Center with a rated capacity of 150 and an average daily population of 123. The research also found a June 8, 2026 in-custody PDF snapshot listing 127 total people at 7:41 AM. The snapshot is a daily list, not an annual average, while the association directory is better for a general average-daily-population statement. Both figures are below the rated capacity in the available sources.
| Measure | Figure | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Rated capacity | 150 | Idaho Sheriffs' Association jail directory, current page opened June 2026. |
| Average daily population | 123 | Idaho Sheriffs' Association jail directory. |
| Daily custody snapshot | 127 | Nez Perce County in-custody PDF, June 8, 2026. |
The Idaho Sheriffs' Association jail directory is the source for the rated capacity and average daily population figures used here.
Historic county jail planning reports show why capacity has mattered locally, but those old reports should not be read as current housing-unit data for the Wall Street facility.
Lookup Nez Perce County Inmates
Current adult custody is published through the sheriff's In Custody page, which links the public PDF roster. The list is not an interactive search database. It is updated every 24 hours, reports are updated Monday through Thursday, and weekend or holiday material is included on Monday reports. The county says recent status changes may not appear and that inmate status can only be confirmed by phone or in person.
- Open the sheriff's In Custody page and use the linked PDF list.
- Scan the adult list for the person's name and name number.
- Remember that the PDF does not show charges, bond, booking photos, or court dates.
- Call the Adult Detention Center at 208-799-3132 to confirm current custody before relying on the list.
- Use Idaho iCourt for charges and court dates after a case is filed.
The official in-custody page explains the PDF list, its update rhythm, and the phone or in-person confirmation rule.
For a fuller custody walkthrough, the county roster limits are covered in the Nez Perce County jail inmate records reference.
Nez Perce Detention Address
The Adult Detention Center, Sheriff's Office administration, dispatch, and law enforcement services share the Wall Street address. Driver's License and Concealed Weapons services are listed at a different F Street location, so visitors with jail business should not use the licensing address. The county also warns that people entering the facility may be searched for contraband or weapons and may be subject to a body scanner.

Nez Perce Jail Video Visits
Friends and family visitation at the Nez Perce County Adult Detention Center is remote video only through InmateSales. The county says the facility no longer facilitates onsite visitation for friends and family of incarcerated people. Visitors schedule through their own InmateSales account, and detention staff do not arrange visits. Use the facility search label `NEZ PERCE ID` when setting up the account.
| Visit Type | Schedule | Scheduling Channel |
|---|---|---|
| Remote video | Seven days a week, 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM | inmatesales.com or InmateSales app/account |
| Friends and family onsite | Not offered by the facility | Do not ask detention staff to schedule onsite visits. |
| Attorney access | Not published in the extracted jail page | Call the jail or use legal-mail channels. |
Confirm the person is still in custody before paying for or scheduling a visit. The roster may lag behind release, bond-out, transfer, or another status change.
Adult Jail Mail and Money
Non-legal friends and family mail changed to TextBehind effective November 1, 2025. The county says nonconforming mail sent to other addresses after January 1, 2026 will be rejected. Standard mail must include inmate name and inmate ID, a return address, and scannable letter-size material. After mail is scanned to the inmate, it is destroyed. Legal mail uses the Wall Street jail address and should not be sent to the TextBehind PO box.
| Service | Official Route | Key Rule |
|---|---|---|
| Non-legal mail | Inmate Name - Inmate ID, Nez Perce County Jail ID, PO Box 76550, Highland Heights, KY 41076 | TextBehind route for friends and family mail. |
| Legal mail | 1150 Wall Street, Lewiston, ID 83501 | Use for legal representation mail only. |
| Commissary deposit | Smart Deposit or 1-866-394-0490 | Requires inmate name and Name Number. |
| Photos | Mail enclosure only | Up to 10 photographs per package, printed on photo paper. |
Do not mail cash, checks, currency, books, packages, stamps, blank envelopes, stationery, stickers, homemade cards, musical cards, non-white paper, glitter, raised decorations, white-out, glue, or other prohibited items. The mail rules also prohibit threats, escape plans, contraband plans, gang markings, coded material, obscene drawings or language, and certain solicitations of money or goods.
The official commissary page lists Smart Deposit and the phone deposit option for Nez Perce County Adult Detention Center accounts.
The county page does not publish a current fee table, commissary menu, phone-call pricing, or deposit limits, so those amounts should be confirmed with Smart Deposit or the jail before sending funds.
Booking Records and Court Cases
The public PDF is not the full booking record. A detailed booking or incident report request goes through the Sheriff's Records Division, which is open Tuesday through Friday from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The Records Division says law-enforcement incident report requests begin with a completed public-records request form and are forwarded to the Prosecutor's Office for review. The usual wait is three business days.
Court charges are different. After the prosecutor files a case, public case status, hearing dates, and many court events are searched through Idaho iCourt or requested from Nez Perce District Court. A jail custody listing does not prove conviction, and a missing jail listing does not mean no court case exists. The person may be released, transferred, cited without current custody, sentenced to IDOC, or held in another system.
Adult Jail Conditions
The Adult Detention Center page states that voluntary services are limited to pastoral services only. It does not publish GED, vocational, substance-abuse treatment, work-release, reentry, tablet, grievance, medical-request, commissary-limit, or phone-pricing details in the extracted official sources. The facility does publish PREA information and states zero tolerance for sexual abuse and sexual harassment.
- PREA report to detention administration
- Call 208-799-3139 and ask for a supervisor.
- Written PREA complaint
- Address it to the Sheriff's Office, Attn: Sheriff Bryce Scrimsher, 1150 Wall St., Lewiston, ID 83501.
- Outside anonymous report
- The county lists Latah County Sheriff's Office at 208-883-5705 for anonymous or third-party outside-agency reports.
Adult jail custody should also be kept separate from juvenile custody. Region II Juvenile Detention Center is a separate regional youth facility, and youth under 18 do not appear on the adult in-custody PDF.
Note: Confirm custody, visitation, mail rules, and payment instructions with the facility before traveling or sending funds.
